Thought it might be fun to show my VERY first foray into Maya yesterday. I played with Maya for about 3 hours and then tried to model a few items from around my house--nail polish, a box, and a spoon. It was way more difficult than I thought it would be, especially tackling with annoying geometry problems (that eventually, caused my very first crash). I actually found it harder trying to remodel them today and got worse results... so, it's just going to be a lot more practice until I get this beast figured out.
Can't wait to try and get these UV'd and textured.
Aw man so awesome! I really need to learn this stuff >___<
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I've been making my way through the tutorials/doing stuff for that but I've yet to model on my own.. This looks great, I should probably try some modeling myself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I made it through all the Lynda tuts, but just ended at a place where I didn't want to do *their* exercises (and I was tired of listening to that guy). Sooo, I think it actually was better for me to do my own little models and make lots of mistakes and really plan it out--because, at least in this stage for me, Maya is still like a huge puzzle and it's fun to figure out because there are so many ways you can achieve the same (or slightly better) results.
